Head for the Hills and MTBA have joined forces for the next Nine months to deliver a downhill development squad for South Australian junior riders. After an overwhelming response from the junior racing community and a selection process that was extremely tough to say the least, we have whittled the list down to the final eight athletes that will form the squad. Read on for the full list of riders:
|Under Seventeen||Under Nineteen|
|Adam Mower||Connor Ward|
|Kye Fielder-Izzillo||Ethan Fielder-Izzillo|
|Luke Bradey||Jack Skewes|
|Rhys Doley||Sandy Parton|
The squad will travel to the MTBA Australian National Championships at Canungra, Queensland, in March next year. Over the next five months we will be training together on a regular basis, developing track skills, fitness and racecraft ready to show the rest of the nation that SA has more top shelf athletes in the pipeline. “The mix of riding styles, racing experience and general personalities in the group is going to make for a super productive squad and I’m confident we will create a really positive training atmosphere whenever we come together,” squad coach Tyson Schmidt commented. “I’m pretty stoked to be selected for the squad,” under seventeens rider Rhys Doley said, “all the other guys are good riders and i’m keen to train with them.”
We will be releasing regular updates on the squads progress along with photos and results as they come to hand- so stay tuned!
