After School Skills
Head for the Hills runs after school mountain bike skills programs for kids wanting to try mountain biking as well as those looking to develop their skills. Lessons are based in mountain bike parks around the Mitcham area and are designed for kids aged 10 to 14. There are no pre-requisites for participants and the program is perfect for beginners, so long as they can ride confidently on two wheels.

We are currently taking registrations for the After School Mountain Bike Skills Program in Term 1, 2020. You can register your interest below. The cost per rider is $219 and a non-refundable $50 deposit* will be taken upon registration.
Program Information
The After School MTB Skills program runs each term for approximately 8 weeks depending on term length. Sessions are held on Thursday afternoons and groups will be arranged according to age, experience and skill level. The program focuses on the key skills of mountain biking and will develop the students:
- Bike handling and balance
- Control and trail reading
- Technique (discipline independent)
Students will also learn about the non-practical aspects of mountain biking, including:
- Trail etiquette for shared-use networks
- Risk assessment and management skills
- Knowledge of participation opportunities
Balance skills learned at slow speed enhance control & accuracy on faster trails
