The Head for the Hills team is dedicated to encouraging and supporting young girls who are interested in mountain biking. We are trialling a slightly modified version of our After School Mountain Bike Skills program that is just for the girls!
The program is designed for girls aged 10 to 14 and is delivered on the Craigburn Farm Shared-Use Trails. There are no pre-requisites for participants and the program is perfect for beginners, so long as they can ride confidently on two wheels.
We are excited to be able to offer a girls only version of our popular After School Skills Program! The program is designed to support girls who are interested in mountain biking and give them an opportunity to develop their riding skills, meet new friends and build confidence.
We will focus on a range of on and off bike skills, developing the riders:
- Bike handling and balance
- Control and trail reading
- Technique (discipline independent)
- Trail etiquette for shared-use networks
- Risk assessment and management skills
- Knowledge of participation opportunities
Participants must be able to ride on two wheels confidently and with good control to complete this program.
